Small-Footprint Induction Melting with Hydraulic Pouring

This hydraulic tilting induction furnace combines a medium-frequency power supply, steel-shell furnace body and separate hydraulic station. It is designed for foundries, precious-metal refineries, copper-processing plants and casting workshops that need repeatable batch melting and a more controlled pouring workflow.

Standard CDO-HT models cover different metal capacities because steel, aluminum, copper, gold and silver have different densities and process requirements. Select the machine by the actual metal and batch weight—not by a single generic kilogram figure.

Small Induction Furnace FAQ

Technical answers about capacity, cycle time, metals, hydraulic tilting, controls, cooling, crucibles and warranty.

What is the capacity range of this small induction furnace?

The five standard CDO-HT models are listed for 18–100 kg of iron or stainless steel, 50–250 kg of copper, gold or silver, and 18–100 kg of aluminum. Actual capacity depends on metal density, crucible, charge form and process. Larger hydraulic tilting furnaces can be engineered as custom projects.

How long does one melting cycle take?

The catalog lists approximately 20–30 minutes per batch when the crucible is already hot and approximately 40–50 minutes for the first melt from a cold furnace. Actual time varies with the model, metal, charge size, starting temperature and power conditions.

Which metals can the hydraulic induction furnace melt?

It can be configured for gold, silver, copper, brass, bronze, aluminum, iron, stainless steel and compatible alloys. Crucible or lining selection must match the metal, operating temperature and contamination requirements.

What are the advantages of induction heating?

Induction heating provides fast, direct heating without a combustion flame. Electromagnetic stirring helps distribute heat and alloying elements throughout the melt, supporting more uniform alloy preparation and repeatable batch production.

What are the benefits of the hydraulic tilting system?

The hydraulic system provides controlled furnace rotation and pouring angle. The operator can control the pour from a separate station, reducing the need to handle a heavy crucible manually and improving alignment with molds, ladles or granulation equipment.

What functions are integrated into the control system?

The selected configuration can include PLC and touchscreen monitoring for melting status, power operation and protection functions. Final control components and interface options should be confirmed in the quotation.

What safety alarms and protection functions are available?

Depending on the configuration, protection functions can include over-current, over-voltage, insufficient cooling-water flow and high-temperature alarms. The complete safety design must also include workshop guarding, personal protective equipment, ventilation and operating procedures.

How can workshop dust and fumes be controlled?

An optional dust-extraction furnace cover can be connected to a correctly designed ventilation and filtration system. The required airflow, ducting and filtration depend on the metal, flux, furnace size and local environmental requirements.

Does the induction furnace require a cooling system?

Yes. Continuous circulating-water cooling is mandatory. The standard reference requirements are water pressure of at least 0.3 MPa, flow of at least 20 L/min and inlet-water temperature no higher than 45°C. The final chiller capacity must match the selected furnace and site conditions.

What is the after-sales warranty policy?

CDOCAST provides a two-year warranty for eligible quality-related faults under the agreed sales terms. Consumables, normal wear and damage caused by incorrect installation or operation are handled according to the quotation and warranty conditions.

Which crucible material should be used?

Silicon carbide graphite is commonly selected for gold, silver, copper and other non-ferrous metals. Pure graphite may be considered for selected high-purity applications. Steel or iron melting generally requires an appropriate magnesia, alumina or engineered lining to reduce carbon contamination.

How long does a silicon carbide graphite crucible last?

Crucibles are consumables measured by melting cycles rather than days. Under suitable operating conditions, a high-quality crucible may provide approximately 40–80 heats, but actual life depends on metal, temperature, flux, charging method, oxidation and thermal cycling.

How can crucible service life be extended?

Dry and preheat a new crucible gradually, avoid impact from heavy charge material, use only the required amount of flux, prevent sudden thermal shock, remove residue correctly and maintain even positioning between the crucible and induction coil.
