What Is Wire Drawing Machinery
Metal wire drawing machinery is a type of metal processing equipment that is mainly used to perform plastic deformation on metal wire through a drawing die, in order to obtain the desired diameter of metal wire. It consists of a host, wire drawing die, traction device, wire winding device, cooling system, etc. Usually used in industries such as mechanical manufacturing, hardware processing, precious metal jewelry processing, artistic metal processing, and wire and cable manufacturing.
Metal wire drawing machines include small wire drawing machines, single-eye wire drawing machines, double-eye wire drawing machines, 8-eye/12-eye wire drawing machines, etc. These devices can draw metal raw materials into the required fine wires through strong traction force according to different wire diameter requirements and material characteristics, thus meeting the production needs of various specifications of metal wires.
The working principle of the metal wire drawing machinery is to fix the wire drawing die through the host, pass the metal rod material through the wire drawing die, and under the traction of the traction device, enter the wire winding device after a certain length of travel, and be wound into a wire of a certain diameter by the wire winding device. During the wire drawing process, the cooling system continuously sprays coolant onto the metal wire to maintain a lower temperature, thereby avoiding the phenomenon of hardening and deformation of the metal wire.
Drawing Process
Wire drawing is a metal processing technique that reduces the cross-section/diameter of a wire by pulling it through one or more wire drawing dies. Wire drawing has many applications, including wires, cables, tension-loaded structural components, springs, paper clips, wheel spokes, and string instruments.
The wire drawing machinery usually changes the diameter or shape of the wire from the disk to the disk through the wire drawing die to move the required diameter or shape. The wire must be lubricated when it enters the drawing die, and the drawing die has dedicated cooling (usually water-cooled jacket cooling). The closing machine provides power.
The drawing process is conceptually very simple: by hammering, filing, rolling, or forging, the starting part of the rod is first shrunk to allow it to pass through the wire drawing die. Then the wire enters the drawing chamber through the pay-off frame and is stretched through the tower wheel and drawing die. When the wire is pulled through the drawing die, its volume remains unchanged, so as the diameter decreases, the length increases.
Usually, the wire needs to be pulled multiple times and passed through continuous smaller drawing dies to achieve the desired size. The cooling method of wire rod drawing is spraying and half soaking. Then it passes through the constant speed wheel and then the traction wheel to enter the take-up reel. The stretching tower wheel is arranged horizontally in a single row.
